Updated pics for the backyard. The grass is growing in very nicely. Don't worry that is not a giant green snake with sprinkler for a head. That is just our hose and sprinkler.

I wonder how the grass would grow if you fed it beer? Perhaps an experiment is in order?

there are too many weeds and clovers. Consider re-seeding and covering it with a burlap sack for two weeks for the initial growth. This will avoid the now botched and weedy look that has taken over.
